News and Updates
International Day was a big success last year!
In May, over 45 countries were represented and culture and customs were shared with the students of Concord Road. It was enjoyable and informative for all involved. To be involved in the planning of our next celebration, please email Teresa Quackenbush at firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you!
Box Top$ Bonanza
Through the sale of the Bobcat t-shirt, and money received from BoxTop$ for Education, we were able to purchase five document cameras for CRS - one for each grade! Thanks for your continued support of the BoxTop$ for Education program. See more details about this valuable program here.
PTA Grants at Work at CRS
PTA funding is used to subscribe to many classroom magazines for CRS – including such titles as Time for Kids, Zootles, National Geographic, and Scholastic.
A PTA Grant supplements the 2nd grade bird study curriculum by purchasing the chicks and equipment for all 2nd grade classrooms, so every second grader can observe the day-by-day development of the eggs and study the hatching chicks.
For the last two years, the PTA was pleased to help our first grade classes participate in the "Thinking Through Art" aesthetic education program offered by the Katonah Museum. As collaborative partners with a professional artist in residence, first grade teachers and art teachers at Concord Road School guided students to explore pieces by Jasper Johns, craft poems, and create related works of art. Back by popular demand, this program will be offered again this year – for the third time!
PTA Volunteers at CRS
The PTA coordinates many volunteer opportunities at CRS. From Class Parent support to photocopying for teachers to monitoring the Lost and Found and supporting the school-wide Election Day event, we strive to give the staff whatever support they may need.
Your help is valuable and much appreciated. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete and return the Committee Volunteer form.
