Ardsley High School

Picture
Thanks to the generous support of our community, the Ardsley PTA has been able to fund wellness activities at Ardsley High School. This includes the Wellness Fair which has multiple educational, fun, and informative activities centering on a specific theme every year. Even though the Wellness Fair has been on hold because of the pandemic, the Ardsley PTA is still working closely with the staff at Ardsley High School to support the well-being of all of our students.

The Ardsley PTA sponsors virtual Facts and Chats for parents with topics such as self love and fostering parent-child communication during the pandemic. We are also proud to sponsor virtual speaker sessions for both students and parents with topics such as internet safety and bias awareness.

Ardsley HS TV Studio

Picture
After AHS parents generously donated time, funding and equipment to build a television studio in the high school, the school turned to the PTA for funding to install the new equipment. The studio is now in full swing, used by classes during school -- including workshops on media and journalism as well as video production and advanced video production -- and also utilized by student clubs after school. The MSG Varsity Club uses the new facility for digital filming and editing, making videos of students, teachers and administrators to share the high school's many accomplishments with the community.

Anti-Bullying Materials

The AHS health department asked the PTA for innovative new Bullying Prevention materials to use in heath classes. They hope this program will reduce bullying problems among students, prevent the development of new bullying problems, and model how to achieve good peer relations.  The PTA was happy to support this worthwhile endeavor.

Scholarships

Every June, the Ardsley PTA gives out 10 scholarships to high school seniors who have excelled in academics and/or athletics, have shown leadership skills in both school and extracurricular activities, and make strong positive contributions to the Ardsley community. The Ardsley PTA is honored to support Ardsley High School through various scholarships and grants that enhance the education of AHS students.

AHS Wellness Fair

Last year at Ardsley High School, an amazing team of teachers, parents and administrators met weekly at 8 am for several months to coordinate our April Wellness Fair that was offered to students in all grades. Their creativity and intensive planning were obvious to all, with over 30 educational and fun activities with a focus on stress reduction. Students were provided information on healthy eating, fitness, the dangers of smoking, drug and alcohol prevention, tolerance of others, the list goes on and on. It was an impressive -- and informative – day. We look forward to another spirited event this year!

iPad Cart for AHS!

Picture
Together with the AEF, the PTA purchased a mobile iPad cart for Ardsley High School. The organizations jointly shared in the cost of 30 iPads, plus additional funding for apps. The iPads are a flexible tool that will allow multiple classes and teachers to utilize the latest technology in their learning. We look forward to seeing the innovative usage of this technology in the high school classrooms.
